Today I want to talk to you about something I really really love!
Japan has always been for me a culture and traditional country, and I've always been impressed by how the past and traditions are kept and respected even in this modern age.
Hard to explain, but the weight of the past is present everywhere, every second, and it is just like a deep breath for those who can pay attention to it!
First time I saw Sensô-ji temple, in Tokyo, I had to sit and take a break as I was really impressed.
This temple is the master temple of a district of 44 temples and every year on the third week end of May, hundreds of people will carry the 44 portable shrines (Mikoshi) to this main shrine in order to be blessed before going back to its own area.
Every year, around 1.5 million people from all over the world come to Tokyo to attend what is the biggest and one of the most amazing festival in Japan.
Unluckily, I couldn't attend this year. Indeed, instead I ....
had to participate!!!!!
3 years now that I have lived in Japan, and for 3 years I have been amazed by those traditions, their rituals and the depth of their meaning...
This year, the team I carried the Mikoshis with several time a year honored me by giving me a place under a portable shrine of this festival. Saturday I carried one of the 44 Mikoshi who came to be blessed in Senso-ji, among thousand of people who came just to see it. And as if it wasn't enough, I was invited to carry Senso-ji own portable shrine on Sunday morning, and waking up at 5am has never been so easy!

Of course those 2 days will be unforgettable! This morning, my shoulders hurt, feet and back as well, but I still feel like I am day dreaming as those images won't go away.
As you can see every group, every Mikoshi, and every step obey to rules, colors of hanten (jacket worn by carrier), color and shape of the hatchimaki (piece of cloth folded a certain way for head wear use) and of course, there is no way you carry the Mikoshi with your regular shoes nor sneakers!! you have to carry a Mikoshi on your bare feet or in Tabi (it is like Ninja shoes)!
As Always, I am surprised by Japan and its ability to keep the tradition and make it be perfectly fitting with our modern times, and those Tabi, the very same I owe are a perfect example!
No you are not dreaming, those traditional shoes are air cushioned now!! Exactly like NIKE sneakers nowadays!!

Bonjour à tous et bienvenue sur le Blog de bidJDM! Aujourd'hui, je veux vous parler de quelque chose qui me tient particulièrement à cœur. Le Japon a toujours pour moi été une terre de culture et de traditions. C'est justement tout le poids de ce passé si respecté qui m'a fait vivre et respirer ici depuis que j'y ai posé le pied pour la première fois. J'ai dû m'assoir et reprendre mon souffle la première fois que mes yeux se sont posés sur le temple du Sensô-ji. Ce temple est le centre névralgique d'un district de 44 temples. Ainsi chaque année pour son festival, 44 temples portatifs vont défiler, portés par des dizaines de personnes marchant au rythme des encouragements scandés par les membres de l'équipe. Ceci a lieu annuellement au cours du 3ème weekend du mois de mai; il s'agit du Sanja Matsuri qui n'est rien de moins que le plus gros festival du Japon et qui attire chaque année quelque1,5 millions de visiteurs venus du monde entier. Je ne suis pas aller y assister cette année,
J'y ai participé!!!!!!!
Après 3 ans au Japon, 3 ans de patience et d'entrainement, 3 ans avec cette équipe formidable qui m'a accueillie des le premier jour comme un membre de la famille, j'ai eu l'extrême honneur d'être invitée à porter l'un des 44 Mikoshi (ou temple portatif) pour la procession de bénédiction du samedi, puis dimanche aux aurores, l'un des 3 Mikoshi appartenant au temple Sensô-ji lui même. Oui Oui, j'ai été sous l'un de ces temples, le samedi, puis le dimanche, c'est juste une expérience inoubliable et extrêmement forte. J'ai du voyager en bus de nuit vendredi soir et dimanche soir pour réussir à allier au mieux travail et Matsuri, et en ce lundi matin, je ne résiste pas à l'envie de partager cela avec vous. Pas besoin de café, je rêve encore les yeux grand ouverts! Comme vous pouvez le voir, tout est très codifié. notamment les tenues, pas question de porter un temple avec des chaussure de ville ou des baskets, non! Il vous faut des chaussures traditionnelles. Au Japon c'est très facile d'en trouver et cela ressemble à des chaussures de ninjas. le gros orteil est séparé des autres. Une fois de plus le Japon me surprend quand je réalise que ces chaussures traditionnelles, non seulement se trouvent facilement ici, mais aussi qu'elles ont aussi su s'adapter à la modernité. Je vous propose donc aujourd'hui de constater ça par vous même avec ces chaussures, nommées TABI
Et oui vous ne rêvez pas, ces chaussures sans âge existent aujourd'hui sur coussin d'air tout comme des NIKE !! *
